Support a Teacher
Honouring the teachers behind the talent
Why We're Doing This
Behind every great young performer is an educator who guided, encouraged, and inspired them. At the SA Music Festival, we believe those music teachers — whether they work in schools, studios, or private settings — deserve recognition and tangible support for their vital role in growing South Africa’s musical future.
To celebrate this, we’ve launched the Support a Music Educator Program.
How It Works
When completing a festival entry, each participant (or parent) will have the option to nominate their music teacher by entering:
- The teacher’s full name
- Their unique Educator Code
For every valid entry linked to a registered educator, the teacher will receive a small monetary contribution from the entry fee — a thank-you from the festival for their behind-the-scenes impact.
This isn’t just a gesture. It’s a real way to financially support teachers who consistently go the extra mile to prepare their students.
Who Can Be Supported?
- Actively teaches music to school-aged children or youth
- Prepares students for public performance, exams, or competitions
- Registers through our Support a Music Educator application process by filling in the application form

Apply to Join the Program
To be eligible for student-linked contributions, educators must register with the SA Music Festival to receive their official Educator Code.
We call these teachers SA Music Festival Supported Educators.
Once approved, you’ll receive:
- A unique Educator Code for your students to enter during registration
- Occasional updates on how many entries have supported you
- A summary and payment after the festival period concludes
